Paint Correction and Ceramic Coating

Paint correction and ceramic coating is an advanced detailing service designed to restore and protect a vehicle's exterior, ensuring it looks its best for years to come. These two processes go hand in hand, with paint correction addressing imperfections in the paintwork and ceramic coating providing long-term protection.

What is Paint Correction?

Paint correction is a multi-step process that involves removing imperfections from a vehicle's clear coat. These imperfections include swirl marks, scratches, oxidation, water spots, and other blemishes that dull the vehicle's appearance. This process restores the clarity and depth of the paint, making the vehicle look better than new.

Steps in Paint Correction:

  1. Inspection and Preparation: Our decontamination wash starts with Strip Soap to remove old waxes and sealants, followed by a thorough wash and an Iron Decon treatment. After drying, we use a clay bar on the paint and glass to eliminate any remaining contaminants, leaving a fully prepped surface ready for polishing.
  2. Paint Assessment: The paint is inspected under Scangrips to identify imperfections and determine the level of correction needed.
  3. Machine Polishing: Using a polisher and a combination of compounds and polishing pads, the paint surface is carefully corrected to remove scratches and swirl marks.
  4. Refinement: A finishing polish is applied to enhance the gloss and clarity of the paint providing that wet, glossy look.
  5. Final Inspection: After the correction process, the vehicle is inspected again to ensure all imperfections have been addressed.

Benefits of Paint Correction:

  • Restores the vehicle’s original shine and clarity
  • Removes swirl marks, scratches, and other imperfections
  • Enhances the depth and color of the paint
  • Prepares the surface for long-lasting protection, such as ceramic coating

What is Ceramic Coating?

Our Jax Wax 10H Graphene Ceramic Coating provides a super slick, hydrophobic, and abrasion-resistant layer for long-lasting paint protection. This high-temperature-resistant coating (up to 2000°F) is great for wheels and offers over 5 years of durability. Its hydrophobic, self-cleaning properties help keep the vehicle cleaner for longer by repelling dirt and water. Bonding to the surface as a solid layer, the coating acts like an extra clear coat that won’t wash off and can only be removed through polishing or sanding.

Steps in Ceramic Coating Application:

  1. Surface Preparation: After the vehicle is washed, decontaminated, and polished, we complete the process by wiping down the entire exterior with our Prep Spray to remove any leftover compound oils or residue.

  2. Application: We apply our coating on an applicator, about 8-12 drops, and proceed in a cross hatch application ensuring 100% coverage.

  3. Curing: After application, the coating begins curing, which can be identified by a rainbow effect on the surface. Depending on the installation environment, the flash time typically ranges from 30 to 90 seconds.

  4. Removal: After curing, we use 2 of our paint towels, one to level the product, and the other to fully remove leftover product to prevent high spots.

Benefits of Ceramic Coating:

  • Long-Term Protection: Our coating rated over 5 years of protection from UV rays, oxidation, and environmental contaminants.
  • Hydrophobic Properties: The coating repels water, making it easier to clean the vehicle and reducing water spots. (still water spots if not dried properly)
  • Enhanced Gloss: Ceramic coating enhances the depth and shine of the paint, giving the vehicle an unbeatable finish.
  • Resistance to Minor Scratches: The 10H scratch resistance is the hardest available, making it more durable than regular clear coat. While swirls and scratches can still occur, they are less likely and harder to inflict.

Paint Correction vs. Ceramic Coating

Paint correction and ceramic coating work together to achieve a flawless finish. Polishing removes swirls and scratches, while ceramic coating protects the restored surface. We always polish the paint before applying the coating, as coating over imperfections would make them more visible. Our process involves thorough, tailored correction to ensure the job is done right the first time, with no shortcuts or cheap, quick fixes.

Why Invest in Paint Correction and Ceramic Coating?

  • Preserve Your Vehicle’s Value: Having this service done on your vehicle, may raise the sale value.
  • Save Time and Effort: The protective properties of ceramic coating make washing and drying a breeze, providing that perfect appearance with minimal effort.
  • Achieve a Showroom Finish: The combination of paint correction and ceramic coating gives your vehicle a stunning, like-new appearance that lasts for years to come.

How Long Do the Results Last?

The longevity of this service depends on maintenance and driving conditions. Proper care, such as regular washing at least once a month and avoiding harsh chemicals, can extend the life of the ceramic coating for several years.
